Team Scotland take gold at Danish International Wheelchair Curling Cup

This past weekend the four athletes selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming 2014 Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia competed at the 7th Annual Danish International Wheelchair Curling Cup.
A truly international field was assembled with teams participating from; Czech Republic, Denmark , Finland, Germany, Norway, Russia, Scotland, Sweden and the United States of America. In all 12 teams competed in two pools for ranking and then the qualifying semi-finals and finals.
Aileen Neilson, Gregor Ewan, Robert McPherson and Tom Killin played seven games and finished the tournament with an undefeated record of six wins and one tie to claim the gold medal. There final results for the competition were;
Round 1 defeated Denmark 10-1
Round 2 tied Russia 4-4
Round 3 defeated Czech Republic 7-3
Round 4 defeated Norway 6-4
Round 5 defeated Sweden 9-0
Semi-final defeated Norway 6-1
Final defeated Finland 6-1
This was the opening competition of the competitive calendar on the Wheelchair World Tour and the Scotland based team will next compete at the Kinross International Bonspiel in Kinross, Scotland from October 15-17, 2013. Participating countries at this event include; Finland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and of course, Scotland.
